The de Buyer guarantee
QUALITY
Since 1830, every de Buyer utensil has been conceived and designed in France following the most stringent quality requirements. The majority of our products, and specifically our cookware, are engineered and manufactured in our factory in France. The few exceptions are products, such as some silicone and bakeware utensils, that use manufacturing processes that cannot be sourced in France. Such partners, wherever they are in the world, are always selected according to our high standards of quality and integrity.
We believe in producing and offering our customers the
highest quality products across all of our product lines, following responsible manufacturing processes. Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility has been recognized as Exemplary by AFNOR, and we strongly
believe in integrating social and environmental practices into every aspect of creating high quality cookware and bakeware.
PASSION
From the Chefs we partner with to the individuals working at all levels of our company, everyone involved in making a de Buyer product is inhabited by the same passion: allowing passionate cooks and bakers like you to thrive in the kitchen.
RESPONSIBILITY
The "Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR) commitment label that we received in 2018 is the recognition of our efforts in fields like environmental protection and workplace safety and inclusivity, whether internally or among our partners. de Buyer is the first and only French company in the culinary industry to receive this label.

FAQ
-
Are de Buyer Mineral B pans made in France?
Yes, all our Mineral B pans are made in France, in our own factory located in the beautiful region of Vosges. The de Buyer factory has been in operation since 1830, and mixes tradition and state-of-the art technology.
Does my Mineral B come seasoned?
Your Mineral B comes with a beeswax finish to protect it against oxidation, but it is not seasoned when you buy it. Seasoning is part of the carbon steel experience, and we let you enjoy it! Follow our instructions for a hassle-free seasoning.
What is the best oil to season a carbon steel pan?
There are many different oils to use and ways to season a pan, but for optimum results we recommend using an oil with a high smoking point such as grapeseed, peanut, canola, sunflower, or avocado oil.
How can I clean my pan? Can I use soap?
Deglaze the pan when it’s still hot to remove the built-in bits and pieces. Avoid using soap. Hand wash only, do not put your carbon steel pan in the dishwasher.
When and how do I re-season my pan?
You may need to re-season your pan if you scrap the initial seasoning by using harsh detergent when washing it and/or by cooking acidic food in the pan. Re-seasoning a pan is virtually the same process as seasoning it to begin with. Depending on the shape that your pan is in, you might need to deep clean it before trying to re-season. You can then follow our seasoning instructions.
Do carbon steel pans rust?
Unfortunately, due to the laws of nature, rust can occasionally appear on your carbon steel pans. To prevent rusting, wipe your pan down with a small amount of oil and store in a dry place. Limit acid use and build a strong patina on your pan. If rust does build, we recommend using a rust cleaner and a non-abrasive scrub brush to remove it, and then clean it and rebuild your patina.
Can my Mineral B pan go in the oven?
Only the Mineral B pans that feature a cast stainless steel handle are considered oven-safe: Mineral B PRO Fry Pan, Mineral B PRO Country Fry Pan, Mineral B Country Fry Pan with 2 handles, Mineral B Paella Pan, Mineral B Griddle, Mineral B Oval Roasting Pan. All our Mineral B fry pans can resist up to 10 minutes at 400F.
Can I use a lid on my Mineral B pan?
(Video) Season ONCE or a season a BUNCH? How to Season a De Buyer Mineral B Carbon Steel SkilletWe don’t recommend using lids with Mineral B Pans, the lid will steam and give the food a metallic taste.
How does the handle sustain heat?
When used on the stove, the Mineral B ‘French handle’ is conceived to stay cool. In addition, its arch and its length allow you to keep your hand away from the heat. If you want to take extra precautions, you can use a de Buyer sleeve.
Why is my pan convex?
The pan is slightly convex to make sure the pan is not spinning on a flat surface. How can I avoid the pan from warping on induction or glass burner?Make sure the cooking surface is matching the size of the eye/ring or coil of the burner. Raise the temperature gradually.
